Mark Stensky, Service Manager at Matrix Packaging Machinery, introduces the company, which manufactures vertical form-fill-seal machines in the USA. These machines handle bag sizes from 2.75 inches to 18 inches wide and up to 23 inches long. Matrix offers extensive post-sale support, including an in-house parts department and a large service team across the U.S., catering to various industries such as food, beverage, pharmaceuticals, and more.

Matrix is also the master distributor for FL Tecnics, INV Pack, and Toyo Jidoki. The new Matrix Morpheus vertical form-fill-seal machine features a continuous box motion, utilizing servo motors for high-speed and accurate sealing. The AutoPro system reduces changeover time by up to 50% using servo mechanisms to adjust settings, which are saved in the product recipe for quick retrieval.

The Morpheus series can handle multiple bag styles, including pillow bags, gusseted bags, and flat-bottom bags. The machine can produce up to 240 grams at 80 bags per minute, with operator-friendly touchscreen controls.

The video demonstration shows various Morpheus machines in action:

  1. A dual Morpheus system packaging ground coffee with automated check-weighing.
  2. A single tube Morpheus running registered film with graphics for ground coffee.
  3. A Morpheus machine with Allen Bradley controls making seals in slow motion.
  4. A Morpheus machine running corn muffin mix in a gusseted bag.
  5. A Morpheus running frozen cheese curds, fed by a Frontier-style Yamato combination scale.

The machines are designed for different products, such as powders, liquids, gels, frozen foods, and dry foods. They can handle both polyethylene and polypropylene films.

In the Q&A session, Mark explains that bag width changes require swapping the forming tube, while bag length adjustments are made via the touchscreen. The machines can run various films, making them versatile for different packaging needs.
